I have the stream box, it was supplied free for broadband only customers at the time and never been charged, not even plugged in. Didn't know they did a streaming stick? How much is that then?

To be fair, I have the stream box and don't have a bad word to say about it. It streams faultless, and picture is very good. Ide love a second one for upstairs but they only do 1 per household at the moment. I've seen the for sale on various sites. But enquiries lead me to believe they need activation from vm. Not sure if it's tied to the mac. But would love to give it a go.

It won't work.
Virgin Stream is a Virgin BROADBAND add on. It is part of VMs Broadband service & is ring fenced to a server at the local cable headend. All the boxes use the same address as when connected to the Virgin network they will only see the local server your account is held on. Hence even if you try to use the box on a different part of Virgin’s network it won’t work, let alone outside of it.

Bit more info
you cannot use a Virgin Stream box if it's not linked to a Virgin broadband account. The Stream box is designed to work specifically with Virgin Media's network and is tied to a local server, making it unable to function elsewhere.
Here's why:
Network Specific:
Stream is a broadband add-on and is tied to your local Virgin Media cable headend, meaning it only works within your specific broadband area.
Account Linked:
The Stream box uses the same IP address as your broadband connection and is linked to your specific account on the Virgin Media network.
No Other Location:
Even if you try to use the box on a different part of Virgin's network or outside of it, it will not work because it's designed to be used only on the network you have a broadband subscription with

To be honest I am looking at getting a android tv
Yes I have a 42inch hitachi android tv in bedroom that I bought during covid no problem sideloading apps and others are available on play store,
Firestick sitting in drawer along with dcolor android stick that I bought a while back. for my viewing the hitachi and gigablue stb is enough.

another point is hitachi defunct I connot see any of their tv's on offer anywhere or are they rebranded , because when looking for actual real android tv's not many about most smart tv's come with there own OS.

Made by Vestel now I think

I’ve just given VM the push. They are the only fibre provider where I am but since the Mrs has retired and we don’t really need supersonic internet anymore, bollox to them. C*@ts. Their renewal price was 2X what i was paying two years ago so that wasn’t going to happen. Their whole customer service is a pile of s@*t.
There’s some new poles just been installed adjacent to our house and the OpenReach bloke who connected us to Vodaphone BB recons it shouldn’t be long for FTTP but I’m now committed to a two year contract to VF now and will have to “suck it and see”. Not the best but VM can do one.
