Hi Peeps

Just thought i'd revive this thread and see if i can get any help on here.
So i am also after media player that can play a lot of the files that my cousin has given me. He has a good VPN and torrented many remux files that i want to be able to watch but i dont have a dedicated media player.
I was thinking of getting the firebube gen 3 which i think would be able to play the files i have. I have uploaded a photo of them. Now i dont think torrent remux files are dolby vision from what i can tell so.
But my main concern is a media player than can handle remux files in the video and audio format. Secondly, it has to support tailscale so i can use this and stream from my enigma 2 receiver for when i am in my in laws house and want to watch the footall there.

I have a sample video to share to someone who has a firecube and they can check the playback and ensure its not choppy and you get perfect playback.

My tv is a sony 85xh950 and i have a 5.1 speaker configuration with denon x2600h receiver.

forgot to add, these files are stored on my ulitmo 4k hardrive so i am hoping it can stream of it. If not possible then i guess i can insert USB HDD into the player

Should be able to play those files using vlc

Maybe able to use Enigma 2 as a server to stream movies to another device.

Along time since I went near a enigma box

Your receiver supports Dolby vision and atmos so you just need a device/player that can pass through those formats. Your TV cannot pass through lossless audui (DTS-HD MA) from what I searched and it would default to the Dolby Digital Plus or Dolby Digital compatibility track instead.

In terms of players you can try Kodi with the reverse engineered codecs (LibreELEC/CoreElec)

The better option would be a shield pro, Ugoos or other device that would be connected to your receiver directly and pass through Dolby Vision to your TV and the lossless audio to your sound system.

Possibly MX player with custom codecs

You can pass through lossless audio on a TV from a device that supports full audio pass through connected to any of the hdmi ports on the TV to an AVR or soundbar connected to the eARC port.
The device doesn’t have to be connected directly to AVR or soundbar.
But you will need an eARC port on the TV as ARC doesn’t support lossless audio.
But you can’t pass through lossless audio from an app eg kodi or Stremio running directly on the TV using an AVR or soundbar connected to the eARC port.

What about the firecube gen 3 instead of shield?

I shouldn't have to plug it directly to receiver as both my TV and receiver are earc supported but I guess it can't hurt to plug it in there. Won't make a difference then right?
 
Personally you will find things much easier if you used a app like streamio.

Download and configure with premulize links you will have all you need

According to Aristotle it should work but I thought it wouldn't, I found this link saying it wouldn't

My bad I should have stated the it depends on the model of TV also.

Just depends on your setup but if your receiver supports all the formats and codecs then I would plug the streaming device into that.

I'm personally staying away from Amazon devices due to how invasive ads can be but it should work. I have set it for a friend firestick 4k max and they use it to watch remux movies and they direct play them without any issues. You can always test and return within 30 days as well.

Oh that's reassuring. Yh but the advantage is to download tailscale too.
 
This suggests that inputting the cube directly into the tv should still mean I get the best audio outputs on my remux files right?
