Mk 2 ford Focus rear droplink

Hi all i am having a few problems with knocking coming from the rear of the Focus when i go over a bump but nothing when the car is loaded up with 4 people i have looked at the top mounts and they seem ok also the rear drop links on the stabiliser bar look ok but cannot be sure from just looking has anybody had the same problem any advice would be great. Thanks

Missed this post , when car is empty go underneath car and pull push drop links as worn ones will give movement.
Drop links are common to go and knock if going over cobbles.
If no movement try opening the boot and press down and let it rise to see if you hear a noise one might need to see if its coming out of the shock.

Thanks for your reply i cannot feel any movement in the drop links they are the L shape one not the straight rods 2 types but have been on the car from new so i think i will replace them anyway also no noise from the shock area

Yeah check the rear anti roll d bush's aswell with no weight on it 👍ideally with a small pry bar to get it moving a bit whilst looking at the bush's.

Also check under rear end ie exhaust hanger broke off / heatshield rotten fastener's. Check rear seat latches aint worked loose, check rear hatch striker plate is tight when the boot is shut. Check nothing has fallen into the wheel well 🤣 and check Top mount not corroded and snapped at the top and maybe hard to see, and lastly check for broken coil spring where it seats in lower control arm 👍ive seen a few snap there.

If no movement in the ball and socket type i would not be replacing them , i would also check the front in case sound was getting misdirected

I sat in the back while someone else drove with the boot empty and noise is coming from the n/s rear its a metallic noise almost like the jack is rattling in the boot and its under the car not from the top mount area the spring looks and feels ok no movement exhaust is ok heat shield had come off it was rotten so repaired that boot and seat latch ok anti roll bar bushes seem ok no play i cannot feel any play in the drop down links ball and socket but still think the noise is coming that area

Check the rear subframe bushes and mounting bolts aswell, not very often the bolts work loose but have seen a snapped one a while ago although that was on a mk3 mondeo. Just check all rear bushes ideally with a substancial pry bar and check the rear drum / brake disc caliper area depending on which set up you have.
